Fate of the Archives
I was asked what would happen to the AE/CE3K archive that I have built up over 50 years when I slip this mortal coil?
It has been made clear it will be binned or burnt. Fair enough really because over the decades the amount of cooperation has been nil from Ufology. No one is interested enough in the books based on the archives (the books are deleted from the online store when I am gone anyway) so why should I care and leave behind archives that others can pilfer?
Its life kiddoes.
Alien Life, UFO Reality and Avi Loeb and 3I/Atlas
If you get onto Reddit or any platform where the UFO fringe has taken hold you cannot miss (if you dig through the UFO grifters) the fact that for months we have had images of a huge alien mothership. Well, doctored images as some are so clear that you have to wonder why it takes decades to get good images of distant stars. 3I/Atlas has, from the very outset been used to literally spam the world with false information -telepathic communication with the entities onboard, smaller objects leaving and escorting it in formation and, of course, clearly (not) see thrusters.
Avi Loeb, the once reputable academic claimed things that never matched the true data but used data how he wanted to fit his huge media circus. Loeb seems to cherish the huge media circuses that surround his claims and has thrown science out of the window.
Years ago I stated that Loeb was correct in stating that large object suddenly approaching the inner solar system need to be studied and monitored for many reasons but we have never, in the history of our world, been in a position where we can detect possible extraterrestrial craft. But Loeb has made claim after claim and not as a scientist ought to by making sensible statements based on fact and detailing why he thinks an object (or debris on an ocean floor) could be something with alien intelligence behind it.
I am not sure whether Loeb is aware of (he's old enough to have heard of it) the story of "Thew Boy Who Cried Wolf"? The story is about a shepherd boy who, out of sheer boredom, repeatedly tricks villagers by claiming falsely that a wolf is attacking his sheep. When a real wolf finally attacks, the villagers don't believe his cries for help because they think it's another one of his lies, and as a result, the sheep are lost. The fable is a cautionary tale about how lying erodes trust, making it difficult for people to believe you even when you are telling the truth.
I think Loeb needs to remember that story.
According to an article published on MSN: 3I/ATLAS: Astronomer Claims 'Misinformation' On Comet Traced To Avi Loeb
"The sudden appearance of the interstellar voyager 3I/ATLAS has reignited a fervent public debate over humanity's status in the universe. While the comet's ethereal green glow and complex tail structure have dazzled amateur astronomers, its arrival has coincided with a provocative new theory that challenges our understanding of extraterrestrial life: the 'Solitude Zone'.
"A groundbreaking paper published in Acta Astronautica argues that we may not be as isolated as we feel. Instead, it introduces a probabilistic framework suggesting that while the universe might be teeming with life, we are currently trapped in a statistical window where finding a peer is mathematically unlikely. This statistical pessimism stands in stark contrast to the sensational claims circulating in the media, many of which have been fuelled by high-profile academic speculation.
"The 'Solitude Zone': A Statistical Reality Check
"The concept of a 'Solitude Zone' was introduced by Antal Veres of the Hungarian University of Agriculture in a recent peer-reviewed study. It offers a sobering counter-narrative to the excitement generated by objects like 3I/ATLAS.
"Rather than describing a physical region in space, the Solitude Zone represents a 'statistical window'—a specific range where the probability of exactly one complex lifeform existing is significantly higher than the probability of many such species existing, or none at all. As Veres explains, this window forms 'a bell curve, not an exponential function'. This framework adds crucial nuance to long-standing tools for estimating extraterrestrial life, such as the Fermi paradox and the Drake equation, suggesting that while advanced civilizations may be common in the grander timeline of the universe, they rarely overlap in a way that allows for contact."
Well, any seriously thought out paper on the subject is welcome but let's look at the facts here. It is claimed that since 1947 the Earth has been inundated with visits by flying saucers piloted by aliens. Roughly 95% of UFO sightings can be dismissed as can claims of "UFO Waves" of activity -1954 and the "French Wave" is a good example where everything from aircraft, helicopters, meteorites and even a driver working on a broken down bus by a roadside were all classed (and still are by people who KNOW better -Vallee) as "flying saucer incidents".
Lights in the sky mean nothing other than that they may be a scientifically unstudied phenomenon that I outlined back in 1980 and called UNP (Uninvestigated Natural Phenomenon). People have even described what is obviously ball lightning as "intelligently controlled". There is a need to sort the wheat from the chaff and concentrate only on reports where there is no doubt that a constructed craft of some type is being reported. There are a good few credible reports but scientists failing their profession refuse to look at them for all sorts of illogical and unscientific reasons -"Its all fake and hallucinations aliens don't exist!" and "nonsense!" which is the cover all and Prof Brian Cox is the perfect example of this type of claimed scientist -is FAR (Fear of Alien Reality) to blame?
You can dismiss 100% of the Contactee claims. I have written and discussed the "Grey phenomenon" before. "Little green men" is usually the response from self claimed scientists if a landing and entities are observed. Firstly, despite what certain Ufologists claim, "hundreds" of alien types are NOT visiting Earth. A lot of these numbers claimed are based on uninvestigated press reports -some only a short paragraph. I have studied these reports since 1974 and I have noted that there are similarities in entities reported and when those similarities are reported but unknown even to Ufologists (who also do not seriously care about these reports unless it is the Hill or Walton cases) the credibility goes up slightly.
Scientists have either adopted the keep your mouth shut and keep your job attitude and ignored the subject or carried out basic research on the quiet. I have covered the work of the French space agency before so won't go into that here. Remember that even though ancients knew about meteorites from some more modern period (the main period being the 17th-early 19th centuries) Western 'experts' ridiculed the very idea of stones falling from the sky and even though there are huge numbers of reports some scientists still ridicule ball lightning.
The MSN article goes on:
Claims of 'Misinformation' Traced to Avi Loeb
"Despite the swirling vortex of conspiracy theories, scientists emphasize that interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS is not an alien spacecraft nor evidence of extraterrestrial technology. The object, which was recently photographed 'photobombing' the distant galaxy NGC 4691, is a natural—albeit extraordinary—visitor. However, the narrative has been complicated by high-profile assertions challenging this consensus.
"Astronomer Qicheng Zhang of Arizona's Lowell Observatory, a co-author of a preprint study on the object, has expressed frustration with the circulating misinformation that attempts to link the comet to alien intervention.
'A large fraction of the misinformation I've seen can be directly traced back to [Avi Loeb] misinterpreting or not fully reading the data,' Zhang told Popular Science.
"Loeb, a Harvard astrophysicist, has aggressively promoted the theory that 3I/ATLAS displays 'anomalies' incompatible with natural origins. Specifically, he cited the object's 'non-gravitational acceleration'—a boost in speed not caused by gravity—as evidence of potential 'technological thrusters' or a solar sail. Loeb argued that for a natural comet to accelerate this fast via outgassing, it would need to lose mass at a rate that would destroy it, calculating that the surface area required for such evaporation was 'untenable'.
"Zhang and other comet specialists flatly reject this, pointing out that Loeb's calculations ignored critical brightness measurements. These measurements confirmed the presence of a volatile-rich coma capable of producing the necessary thrust naturally, without the comet disintegrating.
"Natural Explanations for 'Alien' Anomalies
"Researchers stress that 3I/ATLAS is extraordinary even without the layer of extraterrestrial speculation. Loeb also seized on the comet's spectral shift, suggesting its blue hue could indicate an 'artificial source of light' or a hot engine. However, spectroscopic analysis has since confirmed the colour is the result of a standard—albeit bright—coma dominated by diatomic carbon and cyanogen, a common feature in comets that have travelled from the cold outer reaches of space.
"New studies indicate that cosmic radiation has altered the structure of 3I/ATLAS, building on growing scientific insight into how long-term exposure to the interstellar medium affects these wandering objects. Its 'outgassing'—jets of gas shooting from the surface—has provided the non-gravitational acceleration that mimics artificial propulsion to the untrained eye but fits perfectly within natural cometary models."
which says about all that needs saying. We then come to the question that we cannot answer :
"Are We Truly Alone? The Verdict
While Earth is not in a strict Solitude Zone, the new research suggests that multiple lifeforms at comparable technological levels may exist elsewhere—just perhaps not in our immediate temporal vicinity. As many scientists point out, advanced civilizations likely do not resemble humans—nor would they be found hitching a ride on a frozen rock like 3I/ATLAS.
"The Solitude Zone concept underscores that humans may be temporarily alone in their specific window of technological development, but the galaxy is likely rich with other forms of intelligent life, waiting for their own statistical window to open.
"NASA has yet to release new high-definition images of the comet due to reduced operations during the recent U.S. government shutdown. However, upcoming visuals—including shots from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter taken in early October—are expected to be released soon. The comet will make its closest approach to Earth on December 19, passing at a safe distance of about 167 million miles.
"As the scientific community works to separate hard data from high-profile speculation, 3I/ATLAS continues its journey as a natural wonder rather than an alien messenger. The friction between established astronomical models and Avi Loeb's sensational claims highlights the fragile balance between open-minded exploration and statistical reality.

3I/ATLAS: Astronomer Claims 'Misinformation' On Comet Traced To Avi Loeb
Here are the facts: we know absolutely NOTHING about basic alien life -microbes etc- let alone possible intelligent alien life. We know absolutely NOTHING about any alien civilisation or even alien technology because (officially) we have never come across those things. Had we, since 1947, studied UFO reports in a scientific and unbiased way ignoring military pressure (fear of admitting that a higher technology is beyond our defences or using reports to make a rival nation think this super tech is "yours") then each report could have been evaluated. Each witness or percipient questioned. Data gathered and analysed and from what is available hypotheses could have been formulated.
But science has not adhered to its rather loose "principles" and remained independent of politics and military influence -or the influence of money. Easier to accept dogma and mock and seem like you know it all. Professor Brian Cox, like many other claimed scientists, has never gathered UFO case data and studied it but simply put up the all blocking Ego Wall (imagine the idea of alien beings more knowledgeable than they!!).
Is there 100% evidence of alien visitation? No. Well, not that we would know of because it is quite clear that Science and Ufology as well as the ridiculing in the press/media and the grifters have made sure that many potential witnesses have kept silent. They do not want all the name calling and publicity. Look at some of my posts or books to see how witnesses have been mistreated.
It could well be that one of the potential Silent Witnesses managed to take or found something that could be analysed by science and found to be of non Earthly origin. We will never know, Who would want to get mixed up in the grifting circus of Loeb, Corbell, Knapp and Elizondo and all the poison spat out by the internet and scientists who should care?
Just as Oumuamua was not an interstellar mother ship so 3I/Atlas is not a mothership that will change history on the 29th October, 2025 (oh, wait -it didn't) or any other date being spouted.
After 50 years I do not intend breaking my rule of keeping witnesses/percipients identities confidential and we have already (thanks to Ufology) lost so much eye witness testimonyt.

1979. . Serodino (Etat de Santa Fe). Argentina
You will often hear debunkers claim "They said it for the money or fame" which is a wide-sweeping statement that is intended to calm the nerves of those who are too stupid to question reports or assess the validity of a report. Quite simply, the mass of humanity is stupid and will believe what they are told.
Someone who is a very minor TV personality can make a comment on a case they have only read or heard about and what they say is fact. A scientist with the highest credentials and 4-5 decades of research behind then can speak factually on the same report. The minor TV personality will have their comment taken as "solid fact" because they appear on TV.
Mind you, some of those scientists also talk out of their asses to dismiss reports.
Look at this report for a fame seeking, money making scheme.
On the 26th February, 1979, at 0830hrs, Ernaldo Camusoni, aged 49, was cutting brush in the field where he is in duty as a rural representative, when he was surprised by a powerful light behind him. When he turned around, he saw a red-purplish object some 5 m in diameter that landed 40 m of him. In the back part of the UFO (via some sort of window?), a humanoid appeared, little more than 1 m of size but with a strong physique.
The entity advanced to within 3 metres of Emaldo and, it stopped "as if observing him" and it then turned around and returned into the object which then started to rise vertically and left at high speed to the south.
The next day a 14 m diameter circle of dry vegetation was found; within this was found "odd symmetrical traces inside".
Wow, well, Emaldo grasped fame and fortune with that bit of fakery, didn't he? No. In fact this is it. I checked -
Yep, that is all there is to this case. Emaldo reported the incident and (I assume) CEFAI investigated. I write "assume" since CEFAI appears to be defunct and no one I contacted in Argentina has even heard of this, or seemingly any report pre 2000! I hope that somewhere there is a report on this incident and photographs of the unusual m,arkings within the 14m circle. If anyone knows a source PLEASE let me know.
What was the purpose for the object descending/landing and the entity approaching before going back into the object? No idea. We have absolutely no idea what any alien mind would be thinking or any strategy they might have. What I would like to find out is whether there was any possibility of time missing?
There are many similar reports to this and like Emaldo none of those involved are screaming out "I met an alien!" or vacuuming up the cash following press and TV junkets. Those people, like Emaldo, fade into obscurity and that is an end to it.

The 1987 Ilkley Moor "Alien" Photograph -A Hoax?
I have very serious doubts regarding the 'Philip Spencer'
Ilkley Moor 'alien' photo.
Jenny Randles, looking at the photos only saw one image of the alien "as might be expected if a model had been used". If only one photo you suspect a model as it would be in one static pose and checking images would show the lack of pose change.
I have been trying to trace the "journalist friend" of Peter Hough who was brought in to...uh, operate the tape recorder but I can find no trace of him. I can find no trace of a news item written by such a reporter especially of the "scoop" alien photo story -anyone know any different?
According to the account Philip Spencer (a pseudonym) had
moved from
Spencer says that he was walking up a small hill when he noticed an odd-looking figure just up the trail ahead of him; it was dark green and about four feet tall with an oversized head and long, thin arms. This entity made a gesture at Spencer, which he took to be a gesture telling him to stay away and so he took out his camera and took a picture of it. The entity then ran away and Spencer followed but lost it in the fog but he then saw a craft rise from the moor and disappear into the sky. He described the craft as being of a whitish colour and consisted of two saucer shaped parts that were attached, with one being on top of the other. There was also a loud hum. Spencer did not take a photograph of the craft which seems a little odd.
Rather than continue with his planned route, Spencer headed to another town that was about a half hour away so that he could get his film developed but when he arrived thre he discovered that it was about two hours later in the day than he expected it to be. He also noticed the compass that he had taken with him was pointed in the opposite direction than it should have been.
In the days following the incident, Spencer made contact with UFO researchers Jenny Randles and Peter Hough. Hough claimed to have been “extremely sceptical” at first but later came to believe Spencer. The retired policeman handed over the copyright of the photo to Hough. Although the story quickly made the news Spencer insisted on keeping his anonymity and various write-ups of the case have made it clear that Spencer did not make any money from the story.
As well as examining the site, Hough examined the sighting area and Phillip Mantle and Andy Roberts also did so. Hough then sent the photograph to a number of experts; a
wildlife photographer who examined the photograph said that it was not of any
known animal. Experts from the Kodak laboratory in
According to ufologist/cryptozoologist/paranormalist Nick Redfern, Spencer was hassled by the Ministry of Defence a few days after the incident on the moor. He says that they opened a file on Spencer and sent two Men in black to his home to intimidate him into silence. At the time that this was claimed I was in contact with the MoD who told me “No. Not us” and stated that the photo seemed to show a toy and that would be of no “Defence interest in a toy doll”.
I have to admit that this aspect of the report, to me, sounds highly dubious. Any MoD or RAF identification would have to have the bearer’s name –did Spencer forget the names? Also there are ways to check whether certain people are from the military services or MoD but I have read nothing about checks being carried out.
It was while the photograph was away and being examined that Spencer claimed that he experienced strange dreams. This he reported to Hough who advised that he undergo regression hypnosis. This Spencer agreed to and hypnosis was carried out by Jim Singleton on 16th March 1988. Under hypnosis Spencer's original account of the incident changed dramatically and Singleton has called it a “genuine recall”. I can find no information on Singleton or his qualifications so “take my word for it!”
Under hypnosis Spencer recalled that on seeing the entity on the hill he was instantly paralysed and then lifted up a few feet and pulled into the craft. When he entered the craft a voice told him to be calm and a group of green aliens then performed medical experiments on him and inserting items into his nose and mouth. Spencer was then given a tour of the craft and “shown a film”. This “film” showed apocalyptic imagery, including nuclear explosions, famines and floods. Spencer was then shown a second film the contents of which he has never revealed - saying that the aliens who abducted him do not want humanity to know.
Following this abduction Spencer was returned to Ilkley Moor and it was now that he took the photograph and claimed that the entity was actually waving goodbye to him and not telling him to stay away (as in his original account).
The Ilkley Moor incident did generate headlines in the
On the other side of the debate sceptics have claimed that the
whole incident is a hoax and that the photograph is so blurry that it is far
from proof of any alien visitors to Earth. They have argued that the “alien” in
the photograph could easily be a man or a cardboard cut-out. Sceptics have also
asked why Spencer did not take a photograph of the craft and noted that such a
photograph would be more difficult to fake. Sceptics have also dismissed the
supposed physical evidence of the broken compass, saying that it is easy to
manually wreck compasses.
People can argue back and forth for decades on this photo -and they have. But it is worth noting that Spencer has never spoken to anyone outside of the group of Ufologists mentioned. John Hanson, a retired Police CID detective attempted to contact Spencer but failed. I tried but if the Ufologists are uncooperative there is not much of a chance and with a false name Spencer could not be trace. As I was working with UK police forces at the time I did ask whether any Metropolitan Police officer who had moved up North could be traced but with no real name that proved fruitless.
There are far too many questions that need answering and after many years of trying to find more information for inclusion in the Archive nothing has been forthcoming. I classify this report as Low as there is too much suspicion of a hoax and until such a time as Ufologists cooperate; the retirement age for Constables and Sergeants in the 1980s (in the Met) was 55 and if that was the age Spencer retired at then he would be around 88 years old now if still alive. One would assume that it would be safe to reveal the true identity of the man IF a genuine report.
End note: there is one Ufologist whiner who jumps on to comments when I post anything he does not like and I assume this post will be no different....except this time he will receive a life time ban.
Multiple Witness UFO sighting Plus Later Entity Observation
This comes from the report "Nyon: Rencontre du IIIe type", investigation by the Fédération Suisse d'Ufologie, on the website of the ufology group GREPI, Switzerland. I am glad I grabbed these details while I could -apologies for any bad translation- as the group web site no longer exists and I think the same applies to GREPI.
FEDERATION SUISSE D'UFOLOGIE:
The report by the Swiss Federation of Ufology (FSU) described a series of observations of Tuesday October 11 and Wednesday October 12, 1977 in Nyon. Mrs. V, of Belgian origin, established in Switzerland for sixteen years, housewife, woke up on the 11th at approximately 06:00 as usual to prepare her husband's breakfast - he wakes up around 06:15, and towards 06:20 she saw from the window of the dining room, southern side, a "grain of rice" or a "trout without fins" on the horizon and on the left of the rising sun, apparently above the Savoy. The silver-colored thing was motionless and its angular size was 2 or 1.5 times that of the rising sun.
She called her husband René, assembler in sanitary facilities, around 50, who saw the thing but thought that it was a plane, while his wife would insist to the investigators that she was certain that it was not a plane, as she is able to identify them as such since she already traveled by plane several times and often see the planes that go landing at the Geneva-Cointrin airport. She said the thing was completely different from a plane, and that what struck her the most was the absence of noise and the extremely slow movement.
The husband remained certain that it was a plane and did not believe anything that his family reported, he was very annoyed that his wife started to talk about those things, and his hostility caused some problems to some of the investigators.
At approximately 06:45, René V. told his wife that she did not look properly and that the object is moving. It now moved very very slowly towards the left, circumvented the house while remaining at the same apparent distance, i.e. without showing a change in size. The husband left to work, their Nathalie daughter, approximately 13 years, a schoolgirl, not too assiduous but of a sharp mind for her age and who also saw the thing, left for the school at approximately 07:10.
Mrs. V then ceased observing to do the housework, whereas the object approached the Jura, on the side of the North-East.
At approximately 09:00, Brigitte awoke. She was 19, and the Belgian niece of the V's on holiday at her aunts, of a modest cultural background but a good observer because she would give to the investigators a precise description of a motorist whom she would meet close to sighting location. She had heard about UFOs at the time of the Belgian flap of 1976, but only by the newspapers.
Brigitte then observed the object with binoculars without distinguishing details; the shape was the same, it has neither light, neither smoked, neither sound, nor smell and the thing was now on the other side of the house towards Divonne. The thing was then observed also by Mrs. V and a neighbor whom she sought, in order to avoid being called "nutcase."
Brigitte sees the thing suddenly split in three parts, whereas she was the only one to look as the others were busy with their occupations. These objects now had the appearance of a small cloud or a broad condensation trail with a black spot at an end.
Mrs. V and the neighbor then came back and saw that the three things moved away one from the other while slipping by in three opposed directions, then met at a speed higher than that of planes. The manoeuvers continued, with reverses of direction and crossings as for a dogfight game or aerial combat simulation. The witnesses then noted a rather strong sulphur odor.
These operations took place on several occasions during the day and up to approximately 05:00 p.m., the witnesses alternating their usual occupations and occasional observations, the phenomenon not being there at certain times. At one time, one of the three objects remained hidden in or behind a small cloud during half an hour, passing there or entering in at high speed without slowing down and not reappearing on the other side. The sky was not very cloudy and the objects passed above the clouds.
Mrs. V. felt ill at ease because of these observations.
About 02:30 p.m. this same day, Mrs. V., Brigitte and Nathalie were worried when they saw a thick column of smoke similar to that of a fire of undergrowth at a precise spot in a nearby maize field. Brigitte took the binoculars and it seems to her that she distinguished a metallic dome which exceeded the field through the smoke.
These three witnesses were now on the edges of their nerves after the observations of the morning, and decided with apprehension to go look from closer. They moved towards the maize field, but Mrs. V. soon fled running, like she never run in her life, for fright. She laughed nervously when she told this episode to the investigators.
At one time, Brigitte and Nathalie saw that two farmers were looking up from their tractor, in a field close to the tank. They did not deal at all with their work, their tractor was skidding, but they continued to look at the sky.
Nathalie went until the railroad but made a half-turn by arguing that the cats were following and that they should not get lost. Brigitte continued alone, crossing the railway, going up the ditch, skirting the maize field at the edge of the motorway. There was no smoke any more at this time there, and she noticed that a car had pulled up at the edge of the motorway. Its driver approached and asked her why she was looking up. She summarized the events to him and the man told her that he had seen a similar apparatus in the morning while he stood up, which had remained motionless for half an hour. The driver then resumed his travel.
The investigators think that this motorist undoubtedly stopped after having seen the apparatus in the maize field from the motorway while coming from Geneva. He did not have any other apparent reason to stop, but oddly, he did not go to see more closely. He remained unknown and untraceable, he had been very well described by Brigitte.
Brigitte walked until the end of the field and stopped in amazement as she saw though the plants a being of totally human appearance except the color of his face, who was approximately within 40 meters away. She squatted to observe him. He wore a metallized suit with 5 buttons of the same color, whose various elements were visibly separated. The suit was not tight-fitting, it was loose, "like that of a mechanic ". He also carried a hood, gloves, boots, a metallic belt. He was of normal size, with a greenish skin verging on the blue, only his face being seen, which was oval, with regular features, without particularities, with a slightly curved nose, a normal mouth with visible lips. She could not see whether he had teeth and did not remember to have seen eyebrows. There was nothing weird about his eyes. He carried at the left side, on his belt, an object some 20 centimeters long. The character was motionless, but moved his lips, no sound being perceived.
His apparatus was posed behind him, half hidden by the maize. It was the size of a large limousine and a little more than two meters in height. This "saucer" was topped by a gyratory light similar to the fire of an ambulance, but of green color, twice larger, and rotating faster. The object was of the same metal color as its occupant's suit, completely smooth, it had no doors, neither joints, neither bolts, no asperity of any kind were seen.

FSU sketch.
Brigitte was terrified by the repelling appearance of the character, she stood and run away. Arrived at the opposite corner of the field, she looked back and sawn the object rising gently and vertically, and she could note it had three cylindrical feet of approximately 50 centimeters each one ending in three small points. The saucer moved away gently towards the west.

Brigitte's drawing.
Brigitte resumed her runaway and noticed in the passing that the cows were excited. She came back at the house very shocked without have observed the direction taken by the saucer.
The house's dog, usually very quite, started to bark in the night of the 11the, to practically stop barking only three days later.
The next day, October 12, at approximately 05:30 p.m., Brigitte returned to the house from Nyon walking along the road of Saint-Cergue. When she arrived at the level of the wood of Calèves, she saw exactly the same saucer again, this time motionless above a tree at a dozen meters above the ground and approximately a hundred meters away. The feet of the machine were not visible this time, and she could see that the lower part of the machine was perfectly smooth.
She sat down in the grass at the edge of the road and looked at the machine during half an hour. Nothing occurred, and, bored she resumed he walk and went home. During all the time of this sighting and her return of approximately 15 minutes, nobody went by the road, neither by foot, nor by car.
The FSU learned that Mrs. M. had phoned the newspaper Le Journal of Nyon, who tried to get information at the observatory of Sauverny. The latter had an agreement with the Group of Ufology Research (GRU). Their investigators were on the spot the very same evening, whereas the witnesses were still under the shock of emotions, and their narration was confused. The GRU is said to have found traces on the landing the spot, which, to the admission of the investigators, could have been caused by anything, and did not match those that the witnesses later described to the FSU. Although these traces are very doubtful, the FSU was intrigued when Mrs. V, who knows nothing about flying saucers, mentioned a place where the ground was "like if it had been sucked up by a suction cup."
The FSU learned that other, unidentified, investigators had visited the witnesses several times, and that some of them had adopted an unpleasant attitude which had irritated the witnesses, which did not prevent them from collaborating with good will and kindness with the FSU investigators on October 26 and on November 2, 1977. The FSU notes that it took them hours to put the accounts in order, because they are not people used to focus in order report facts chronologically and with precision.
The FSU found no clues of a hoax, but raises all the same the issue that the saucer located half in the corn field according to Brigitte paradoxically left the maize upright. But as she had advanced only until approximately two or three meters before the end of the field to observe though an opening in the plants, it was difficult to her to perceive the exact position of the object compared to the field.
In general, the FSU notes that only contradictions that they could find were in the estimates of durations and dimensions, which are rather flexible in the witnesses minds, and show their weak qualification to correctly evaluate distances and durations. The FSU noted:
"Our relative practice of witnesses strongly encourages us to think that the durations indicated must be divided by about two, and that the dimensions given could vary of a factor 2. However we preserved them just as they were in our report of the events."
The V.'s house is at two kilometers of the center of Nyon, Jura side, already in full country, and at approximately 80 meters of the motorway and 80 meters of the little attended railway connecting Nyon to Saint-Cergue. The sight there is very clear from the Alps to the Jura. A power line skirts the motorway. The Prangins airfield is at 3 kilometers and the international airport of Geneva-Cointrin at 25 kilometers, the area is thus frequently flown over by helicopters and planes of all sizes and the witnesses are accustomed to their presence.
FSU passed a call to witnesses in the local newspaper, but nobody answered, which the FSU allots to the fear of the ridicule. The radars at the Geneva-Cointrin airport did not detect anything.
According to the newspaper L'Ouest Lémanique, the couple of the neighbors of the V. family managed to observe a saucer topped by a green light that was posed near a maize field, before flying away in two parts which moved away in different directions.
According to the GRU, other sightings occurred in the area, including one on the 10th of October in the evening above the Jura, with four or five large projectors that were seen in the sky.

Two Encounters, 35 Years Apart: Flatwoods 1952 & Baryshevo 1987
Stuff Gordon Creighton's opinion. As noted in my books his opinions and those of others at Flying Saucer Review were quite racist at times. No one who was not from Europe or white were "uneducated" and UFOP percipient Dionisio Lahanca was described as having "quite primitive" features.
Creighton and others at FSR knew full well that reports they built up via their English translations had been explained away in later reports but never published those. One 1957 report I searched for any trace of from 1977 to 2023but the story originated at FSR and they could find none of the correspondence on the case which, because of its nature would have been a very big historical event. Everything started and stopped at FSRs door.
The Flatwoods case has had so many debunkers working on it since the 1950s but the original events (not the made up pop culture tourist stuff) still go unexplained.
Reports from Russia where hoaxing at every level existed and still does I never trust. So the later case although interesting and with elements I am familiar with, gets a Low categorisation.
