It's The Question Most of Us Ask....

The flying saucer and big lumbering hairy monster is something that those of us into Monster and sci fi movies (especially B movies) are familiar with.

During the 1960s "jokester" John A. Keel reported on such accounts. The big promoters through mass media paperbacks were Brad Steiger and Joan Whritenour. "The sandman" and many other fancy names were given to these lumbering creatures that were seen in conjunction with a UFO sighting or entering and leaving a flying saucer.  Steiger (Alien Meetings) even reported on a crashed UFO and hairy humanoid ("sasquatch-like") running from it in Turkey of all placers. despite almost thirty years of searching I can find no original report. In fact, a few of Steiger's accounts start and end with him.

Just as Charles Fort mis-reported on incidents and gave sources in which his accounts never actually appeared and some of his reporting can be seen as "big fibs" so Keel and Steger -and others- produced reports that may have had a few grains of truth in them but, as I have repeatedly written over the years, the accounts were "sexed up" -making them sensationalist and something to hook the readers.

Let's not forget that the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organisation (BFRO) also had accounts faked for Matt Moneymaker's own reasons. You deal with Bigfoot and UFOs then anything can be passed around as fact. Even sea serpents and UFOs.

My late friend Joan Amos was a nice lady but had some strange theories. All the missing domestic cats we hear about were in fact taken by aliens and mutated into the large black cats reported in the media -she even had a report from someone claiming to have seen a panther-like cat leaving a UFO.  Joan also had interests in subjects ranging from whether the original people of Cornwall were Egyptians (long and complicated subject), the paranormal and much more. I never believed half of what we discussed and Joan knew that so she did the best she could to gather material to send me to see what I thought. She knew I was sceptical and open minded.

The point here is that you never dismiss any claims but examine all the information that comes to you and then check and counter-check until you decide for yourself. I could write that I believe Travis Walton or Betty and Barney Hill after all the checking but is that proof? No. I would be going by anecdotal evidence because I was not there and no one else was present but the percipients.

As for Bigfoot (the plural is "Bigfoot" as in "The reports of Bigfoot" NOT "Bigfeet" which makes it sound like ill educated gibberish that debunkers can laugh at) well, there is no such thing in the UK and there never has been and I have studied rare books as well as popular ones over the decades and even talked to and known people in areas where these accounts come from and they have never heard of such things. This began after the U. S. Bigfoot programmes hit the internet. Same with "dog Man" -popular culture taking over from reality when the right, susceptible people are involved.  On a trip to Cradle Hill, near Warminster in the late 1970s, Franklyn Davin-Wilson and I were hardly out of the car two minutes when people got glowing faces and hyper and asked "Can you sense it? The whole atmosphere is different here!"  When a satellite flew over and someone excitedly yelled "Look -it's them!" I pointed out that it was a satellite and, boy, was the response negative but they were susceptible minds.

The funny thing is that I always look into something with an open mind and when I kept reading UK Bigfooters stating that "no one in science" would look at the evidence I contacted them and told them I was a naturalist and interested in looking at what evidence there was. The lady running the group really tore into me as a debunker and made a lot of other negative statements yet I had never met her or been in contact with her before. I messaged her privately and she apologized but not openly on the group therefore anyone who might have come forward was put off as I was a debunker outed by their leader.

Next was a fella who had collected Bigfoot evidence in an area he was keeping secret -despite his use of a pseudonym to keep things secret it took me 30 minutes to find out who he was and where he was. I asked politely what the physical evidence was t6hat he had collected and he told me and he even had a video posted of it: a stick found in the middle of woodland where coppicing had taken place. It was a "Bigfoot knocking stick". He went into a full argument with me after I pointed out that it was just a stick and there was nothing  to prove someone had not thrown it for a dog or, simply, it had just fallen there. No. The length was right and there was no way a stick like that could be found in woodland. So I asked what other evidence he had? He came back with another speech about the stick. The fella was obviously not that bright so I decided to not respond. A stick in the woods is a stick in the woods. I later found out he took my lack of response as the arch debunker (me) having no answer to his stick evidence and he even called it a great victory.

We see the same with "British big cat" reports. We know that there is only one such cat in the UK but we have photos wild boar, possibly (? too far away) a horse in a field about a half mile from the photographer, video footage of a great dane and various other dogs not to mention enough footage of domestic cats to keep any cat lover busy for a day. You can highlight the diagnostic features or clean a photo up to show what animal was seen -nope. You are a debunker

Paranormal entertainment videos -100% of which are fake anyway- you have people in the dark in a decaying, crumbling old building or tunnel and something falls and it is "thrown" or to put it in the vernacular "How on earth did that get thrown?" It wasn't thrown. It was a piece of a crumbling building falling.  Floor boards in a house constructed mainly of wood and ever creak or thud is sign of "something" being present. No one wants to hear anything other than that (for the record I have seen poltergeist and "ghostly" figures within 5 feet of me so I am no debunker).

In Flying Saucer Review, Volume 20, No. 1, July, 1974 is an article by Berthold E. Schwarz, MD, Berserk: A UFO Creature Encounter. UFO and Bigfoot sighted and a lot of other factors -much not revealed until years later by investigator Stan Gordon. The later material shows that the case is explainable and if you want to find out more about "Ruth Syndrome" check out my book UFO Contact? which explains it in full. In fact, there is an incident involving the main percipient, Stephen Pulaski, that could not have happened but is woven into the story. I very politely explained to Stan Gordon the possible explanation and I was being careful as this was his main case. Never heard back from him again.

Here is the problem. I have spent 30+ years investigating and researching until finding out that the case was inaccurately reported or simply fake. Indeed, one case I started on in 1977 and did not close the file on until 2010. I file it away and move on. To get to the , as far as we can prove, genuine reports we have to look at the fake or misreported; Solved move on. Do I then curse the heavens over the  amount of work I've put into the case for it to have been wasted time? No. that is investigation and research.

Flying Saucer Review has, since it began, promulgated cases and reports that it knew were proven to be hoaxes and under Desmond Leslie the, uh, odd "jolly" was mixed into the pot; the Braemar, Scotland giant humanoid report being one of these. Never happened yet still quoted today and even little bits added to the account.

If someone tells me that they saw a UFO and that they were abducted I do not ridicule or dismiss. I listen. I get all the details. No, I do not say "You need to be put under regression hypnosis!" The person does not describe an entity such as a Grey, Insectoid or whatever but a very unusual one.  Here I will check back through my volumes of reports from around the world to see if similar entities have been reported -I did this and found entity types in little known cases that matched up. Most of the accounts are stored in my head so I'll try to recall anything similar first.  If you find five reports separated by decades and continents and so obscure that very few know about them let alone the sources...you have something.

There are reports classified, simply because they involved UFOs and entities, as hoaxes. You look into those and suddenly you find that percipients were smeared and all sorts of rumours started and in the 1950s a quiet whisper of "You know, we think he is a fag" starts the ball rolling. Even a married man or, say, a scout master: hey "a fag working with kids, know what I mean?" It's all documented. In this day and age corruption and racism and other questionable practices are accepted by big UFO groups ( we know which ones).

Back in the 1980s a very well known American Ufologist contacted me -I still have the letter- and told me outright that he was trying to track down dirt on another Ufologist who was rumoured to "have had a sex change" (ie Trans). The information was wanted to smear the person and I made quite sure that the "truth seeker" got a good, very blunt response. Even in the early 1980s when I was gather material on Betty and Barney Hill Ufologists in the UK (as in the U.S.) were responding with "Well, they are a mixed race couple" and "Well, she married a black man" and I grew up in an area where that was not unknown so my responses were a tad blunt -I suddenly see why I was not that popular😂

Checking on a percipient's background is a basic and sexual orientation or ethnicity is never considered. So if you find that the percipient is above board you also check to see if there were UFO reports in the area at the time he had his alleged encounter.  When it comes down to it if you are dealing with one percipient your conclusion is based on his/her testimony and you never close a case but always keep an eye out for future similar accounts.

Even if someone says that the entities encountered on a craft were similar in appearance to a cucumber with four legs and two arms you go through the same checks. Never Ever do you dismiss a report because "it involved a group of kids who saw UFOs" because that does not mean it is not a genuine account. Were locals asked about UFO activity in the area at the time? No? Then you cannot dismiss the report. And when you state that you destroyed the written account sent to you -you should be shunned by serious researchers.

I was once working and could not get to see a witness who reported a UFO landing near Bristol/ I handed the letter from the man to another Ufologist who was sent to chat to the witness. Next day I was told that the witness was "a UFO nutter" -he had described a UFO landing and "something" getting out and walking around it.  He was a "nutter" because he reported an entity that the investigator had not even asked for a description of. I was then told the witness letter had "gone on the fire as rubbish" -at which point I was very "vocal" toward the 'investigator'.

In another instance I was dealing with a married woman who had reported UFO activity and having seen entities at least twice. The conversations were not quick Q&As but took time. We were not using hypnosis at the time and so it was careful conversations, listening and noting things. These discussions were taking place at her home with her husband present and at my home -with my grand parents present because that way there was no way improper behaviour could be claimed (the 1970s were a different time). One day the woman did not turn up for a meeting. I had been away on holiday (which turned into UFO investigation) and it seems that things were said to the woman and she ended all contact. At a meeting one Ufologist suggested that my main interest was in sex with the woman. The vocal explosion that followed deafened the person involved and shut up anyone else.

It is something that you need to be aware of and as an investigator/researcher your behaviour toward percipients/witnesses has to be impeccable. CE3K/entity reports were never liked in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s or at any time though, of course, the scan man George Adamski was above questioning -as were many contactees! And it should be noted that a Contactee is not and abductee or encounter percipient.

I use the term Close Encounter of the Third Kind and that is it. No CE4K, 5 kind,  6 kind or any other number. Far more confusion and fantasy has developed over the decades by "New Ufologists" (hoaxers and debunkers) increasing the number of encounter types. CE3K is the only tag you really need and all the data should be included in that type of case report.

One of my ex colleagues, who left the CE3K project fairly quickly as he was unnerved by it all, once told me that he had been to interview a person about a UFO contact. He had not told me or anyone else before and went by himself to a house in a rather run down area and was led into a darkened room. There the (apparently very creepy) person described how aliens were hidden in society but we could only see them for what they were if we got to within a certain distance of them. These aliens were silicon based life forms and it seems my colleague was scrutinised closely to make sure he was "not one of them". Apparently he breathed a sigh of relief when he got back to his car.

The rule should always be, even if the person is known to the investigator, that no one goes to such an interview alone. If the person is known to the investigator there could be later claims of collusion or having fallen for a story. Back-up is needed. In some cases (as I found) a person may sound genuine but meeting them alone and face to face can be dangerous.

"The object changed size and shape" I would never ignore as there are accounts going back to the 1800s of this type of phenomenon and they are not any form, of craft. "The object changed size and shape and then became a person" I would not ignore as that indicates something non-Ufological.

The two above examples can be checked using the literature and even looking at human psychology. You have to be aware of many interpretations and it has taken me since 1974 to get where I am today (I'm not talking about being poor either). Therefore if someone tells me they saw Bigfoot leave a landed UFO and walk into woodland I know what I need to look for.

Will genuine aliens look like "Greys"? Well, before the whole of Ufology rebooted itself and made a huge proportion of old reports into ones involving "Greys" we had short, large headed entity reports but no Greys. The late Anne Druffel even wrote that there were never any Greys in old reports. Will the aliens look like "insectoids"? There are none reported prior to the 1990s. Same with the Reptilians. The "Tall Whites". Am I going to dismiss someone who claims to have encountered such entities? No. I will ask for the evidence or at least convincing testimony.

It is probable that there may have been old style landings and CE3Ks but those involved will not come forward (through fear of ridicule; remember the Hills did not go to Ufologistds and the women in the Liberty encounter did not approach Ufologists but Ufologists went to them and threatened to expose them to the press if they did not cooperate)  and those who have are either dismissed if they claim there was no abduction and no Greys or ignored as "cranks". In over 70 years nothing has changed and there are still Ufologists who believe Adamski.

The percipient/witness is the important factor in these cases and they need to be as protected from publicity and ridicule as much as is possible and, as I noted 15 years or so ago (Ufology is now catching up) we are dealing with post traumatic stress disorder in some cases. In the 1980s I describe it in the then terms of "shell shock" and "mental shock".

What should you expect as a Ufologist or investigator-researcher? Nothing. You have to keep an open mind and gather all the data you can and remember that Hopkins, Jacobs and perhaps even Mack, led us along a false path where decades were wasted, percipients abused and where debunkers found all they needed to ridicule the UFO cult.

Expect nothing.

The Bridge Abduction

In 1996 I was in touch with Robin Cole who headed the Circular Forum group based in Gloucestershire and that in turn led to my involvement in the Gotherington Gargoyle case (The Case of the Gotherington Gargoyle, in Some Things Strange & Sinister). Knowing of my interest in CE3K reports, Cole asked whether I would be interested in looking at an abduction report they had on file. Obviously, my answer was “yes.”

What I received was slightly shocking because, despite my reputation, I would not have expected to find the address, telephone number and percipient’s name unredacted.  As it happens it may just be that I am the only person who now has the full report.

In-keeping with the report in the group magazine (The Bridge Abduction, Circular Forum vol. 1 no. 1, Winter 1996) I identify the percipient as “Mr. X”.

At around 21:40 hrs on the 15th February, 1995, Mr. X was driving along the M50 and heading home from work when he noticed a bright object travelling at speed over the countryside. The object was heading in his direction but he lost sight of it as the road cuts through a hill at that point in his journey and a bridge blocked his view. Once he had driven under the bridge he was confronted by the object which was approximately 80 feet above the road but then descended to around 50 feet as he continued 250 yards from the bridge.

As Mr. X strained to see just what the object was he describes himself as suddenly becoming “docile”. Then “a voice from within” told him to pull over to get a better look and he did so.  His next recollection was being in the middle lane in third gear and travelling at around 50 mph and a voice was telling him to “Keep going, there is no traffic, keep going.” Not much further along was the junction he would normally take but he pulled off of the road and got out of the car. He was unsure whether he had been involved in an accident of some kind but on checking his car was undamaged.

On checking, he found that some 40 minutes had passed and he had no recollection of anything during that period. His journey home normally took twenty minutes but on this night it had taken just over an hour and on getting home told his son about the experience.  That was the end of an odd event until he started having vivid flashbacks and odd things upset him. While treating his wooden fence two slanted black knots in the timber frightened him and yet he could not understand why.  He was equally shaken by the motif of two black, slanted wings on his son’s motorbike.

By 1996, Mr. X decided that he needed to contact someone which is when he contacted Cole. According to Cole; “We now have over forty pages relating to this case” yet the “full report” I was sent has only 15 pages which is 25 pages short of what Cole claimed. He did state that the late Tony Dodd had seen the report and a copy had been sent to Professor John Mack for his analysis and, at the time of the Circular Forum article a copy was in the hands of Nick Pope. However, as only 15 pages are available we are lucky that this includes Mr. X’s original account which adds much more to the report and I have left the spelling etc. intact:

“…I left work at exactly 9.30 p.m. in the evening to go home…the journey

which I take home is about 9.25 miles. I have been travelling this road for 7

years. The same route every day.  This journey should take no more than 15

minutes maximum.  It consists of 1.8 mile bypass to M50 at Ross-on-Wye,

      3.75 miles motorway M50 and 4 miles on the Newent/Gorsley B4221. I

arrived at the roundabout at the M50 Travellers Rest end at approximately 9.40

p.m.  It was dark but clear. I looked across the valley through a gap in the hedge

towards Ponts Hill. On the far horizon about 10-12 miles, low down was a large

bright light in an otherwise star less night sky.”

The account now gets a little confusing as the continuation of Mr. X’s account refers to a previous sighting but then jumps slightly. I assume that the next part takes up the narrative from after Mr. X had lost sight of the object due to the bridge and then saw it above the road:

“I don’t know whether this was a hole in the underside of the craft. There was

no noise (not helicopter or plane). The light as bin the first sighting completely

enveloped the craft.  It appeared flurescent a bit like aqn aura around the outside

of the craft.  But it shimmered when you looked at5 it.  I only had a few seconds

to see this and estimated that it was about 80 ft. above me and about 2 bus

lengths wide (diameter). I am now fidgeting about in the car as the light is

bothering me.  All of a sudden I hear a voice in my head saying   “Pull over and

you can get a better look!”

“I went from worrying about the light and being agitated to totally docile

looking straight ahead not at all concerned about the encroaching light that

was descending on me.  I looked along the hard shoulder for a safe place to

stop as I had been told.  At this point the hard shoulder4 disappears and a small

road runs underneath the motorway. A barrier with warning posts appears in

front of me. A voice warns “Unsafe! Unsafe!” as I start to pull over.  I straighten

up the car taking notice of the voice.  I am sure these voices are some sort of

telepathy.  It’s as if they can see through my eyes everything that is going on,

and are guiding me.  I am under some form of hypnotic control. I can see

everything that is going on but I have to obey the voice.

“From the bridge to this point it takes about 20-25 seconds everything is

happening very quickly.  The craft has to descend between two rock faces

and position itself above my car as well as fitting between the four lanes

carriagway.  It is large but has fantastic control.  It is at this point I think I

was abducted. It was as if I blinked my eyes and I was back again. The only

thing I can compare this with is if you are watching a very good film and it

jumps a frame. You notice something but because you are engrossed in the

      story it appeares continues.”

I believe in that last line Mr. X meant “continuous” and I should also note here that a bus length is around 30-35 feet depending on the model so the object seen by Mr. X was approximately 60-70 feet in diameter.  In the 1994 Silbury Hill case Paul and Sonya also believed that entities were “using” their eyes to see things.  Mr. X continues:

“I am now looking straight ahead on the same bit of road. The car is in gear

now (5th) I am doing about 50 m.p.h. I am still not bothered about the light.

Everything appears normal and another voice says; ‘Don’t stop now! Keep

going. There is no traffic either side of the motorway. Keep going.’

“I estimate it was between 5-10 seconds after this that I came out of the

hypnotic state and the craft had gone.  They had released my mind. I

exclaimed aloud ‘Where’s the light. Where’s the light.’ Not realising it was

all over.  They had gone.  I continued driving as I was told but I was now

completely conscious and in control. I noted there was no traffic what so ever

as I had been told and I kept going.  When I reached the slip road at the

Gorsley turn off (B4221) I stopped before turning on to the B4221 for Newent.

I put the hazard  lights on and got out of my car looked across the motorway

at a small wood opposite.  I saw lights going down beyond the wood but could

not swear that they were the same lights that had plagued me earlier.  Still no

traffic.  I got back into my car. Put the hazard lights off put my seat belt on and

then noticed my digital clock was reading 10-22 p.m. that meant that a 3.5 mile

journey which would normally take 3-4 minutes took 40 minutes.  I remember

feeling pleased when I saw the lights of a car coming from the Gorsley Golf

Club. The first car I had seen since entering M50.  As the car passed I pulled

out behind it but it turned right onto the motorway to Ross-on-Wye.

“I continued home arriving at about 10-35 p.m. still wondering what had

happened. The light still haunting me.  Which it does to this day.  I checked

the car over and myself to see if I had been involved in any form of accident.

No damage to the car and no marks on my body.

“The only explanation to the lack of traffic on the motorway and loss of

Time would be if I had been taken when there was a lull in the traffic and put

back there was a lull in the traffic 40 minutes being lost inside the craft for

what purpose I do not know. My conclusion is I was taken by a F.F.O. similar

or the same as described in my earlier sightings with its outer lights on.  This

light acting as a type of strobe giving it a shimmering or pulsing effect, thus

hypnotizing me, while taking  the car and myself up into its hull and then up

into the sky and out of sight for 40 minutes to do whatever they had to do to

me and then bringing me back to exactly the same spot on the motorway to

      continue my journey.

“I think that U.F.O.’s are using motorways as easy access for abductions and

now that the American Air-Force has gone its left the gate wide open for them

to do what they want. Up until 1993 my first sighting where I saw two craft, I

had never seen anything in 47 years of my life.

“When I arrived home at about 10-35 p.m. my wife was in bed asleep so was

my youngest son Stephen in his bed asleep. Andrew my eldest son was out

with friends, Richard my mid son was laying on the settee watching T.V.

(football) after the news had finished at 10-30 p.m. he was wearing his blue

towling dressing gown. I hung my jacket up put my work bag down and went

into the T.V. room to tell him about my incident with the light.  He was

watching an action replay shot and asked me to be quite until he had seen it.

I then told him about this bright light and was bewildered at this time as to

what it was. He can verify the time I got home about 10-35 p.m..

“At no time do I remember stopping the car during the incident it

appeared continues. Apart from the problem with the light (U.F.O.).”

The interesting aspects of this account are what Ufologists tend to leave out because we read here what Mr. X was thinking at the time but also it shows that he was not “vague” afterwards. He notes that his wife and one son were asleep and that another was out with friends –he obviously checked this so he was “thinking straight”. He noted that Richard was watching a football replay on TV following the 22:00 hrs news and that he was wearing a blue dressing gown. He had also checked the car and himself for any damage or injuries.  Mr. X even managed to write out a sequence of events for the evening of 15th February:

1) Clock out 9.30 p.m.

2) Walk to car park (2 mins)

3) Drive to M.50 using by-pass (5 min 30 secs)

4) Entre M. 50 9.40 p.m. approximately

5) First gap in hedge light on far horizon

6) Second gap light streaking across valley

7) I go under first motorway bridge

8) Craft descends on me

9) Open window of car and look up at craft

10) Voice tells me to “Pull over and you can get a better look’

11) Voice warning “Unsafe. Unsafe” as I go to pull over. Barrier in way

12) Voice again “Don’t stop now. Keep going. There’s no traffic either side of the motorway keep going”

13) Drive to slip road and junction B4221 at Gorsley 10.22 p.m.

14) Drive home to Newent arrive 10.35 p.m.

One morning at 04:00 hrs in 1993, Mr. X had looked across the yard (from where he worked?) and seen the Moon as well as two “flying saucers” although this appears to0 have been just a sighting with no missing time. With regards to the flash-backs of the 1995 incident Mr. X recalled being observed by entities  but also of being in a laying down position in a white room –oddly enough, for no known reason he eventually repainted the interior of the house white.

The remark about the US Air Force no longer present refers to local bases used by them closing down or being used as “stop over” airfields. As I found out in the 1980s in conversations with USAF personnel there their presence had never seemingly been of any concern to “UFOs” locally.

It would be nice to know what the “40 pages” contained especially since it was stated that; “At one point we became very concerned for the “abductees” health and safety, as it seemed he was suffering from post traumatic stress disorder directly as a result of his experience.”

Without the necessary details it is difficult to gauge whether this was incident was a psychological or physical event.  Circular Forum suddenly became defunct and it was impossible to track Cole down though I did come across him on a ghost forum in which the “ghost hunter” Elliott O’Donnell was discussed. I was told Nick Pope had the full report but when I contacted him he was unsure -“I get sent so many things” which sort of ended my attempts to find out more.

Mr X was 50 years of age in 1996 and would now (in 2020) be 74 years of age if still alive. Unless someone has a copy of the full report Cole indicates went to Tony Dodd (deceased), John Mack (deceased) or Nick Pope this is another case we have lost.

The Watchers

As we head toward blog closure date how about I tell you about "the watchers"?

Back in the late 1970s I was a member of the British Flying Saucer Bureau (f 1952) and the crackpottery that went on could fill a book.  However, I managed to arrange a number of Sky watches and the purpose of these was to acquaint people with the night sky. One of these sky watches and its location, was altered by the BFSB committee for some silly reason so no choice. We ended up in the quiet countryside, in a field surrounded by hedgerows in Failand which is near Bristol.

At one point I noticed an odd silence only broken by whispers occasionally. I looked at my friend Franklyn (Franklyn Davin-Wilson) and asked what was going on? He had no idea so we sidled up to two committee members and asked what was going on and why people were spooked? One looked at us and whispered "The Watcher!"

It seems that in previous sky watches (the reason they stopped doing them) a dark figure had appeared standing at a distance from the sky watchers but watching them. Never said a word and never approached them. Eventually the figure vanished.

You have to remember that after Albert K. Bender's breakdown and his Men In Black story he had sent a warning to all sections of the International Flying Saucer Bureau that "The Men In Black are coming!" and the BFSB put a lot of its records ands materials in a safe box and waited with dread. That was in the mid 1950s. They were still waiting in the 1970s and 1990s.

None of this ever made sense to me. You are going to continue with flying saucery but some papers and files are stored away "safely"? HOW does that stop MIB visiting you? And, after four decades the files and records were still being hidden -as head of investigation and research I was not even allowed to view files. This was the silly mindset that had to be dealt with. Even in the early 2000s Denis Plunket (in his late 70s) was talking about the MIB and how they might visit any day. So, the whole watcher thing seemed silly.

I told Franklyn to keep an eye on the Watcher as I moved back into the crowd then made my way carefully through a hedgerow and circled around and then reached a point where I could see the greyish figure and then moved closer as quietly as I could in the dark. I then leapt and grabbed the Watcher.  The shock and surprise resulted in some good Anglos-Saxon words coming from his lips.

The "Watcher" was a man out "rabbiting" who had seen this "strange group of people standing still in the middle of a field, in the dark and looking up at the sky". He though he had stumbled on a witches coven or worse. I explained what was going on and got a strange look before he left the area.

I moved into the field to tell my companions and all I heard was a woman scream and a man say out loud "Bloody hell -he's coming toward us!" I put my torch on and called out. The mystery of the Watcher was solved. Or was it?

A couple of people swore blind that the grey figure had vanished before I got to it and thought the poacher had then turned up. How could they see where I was behind a thick hedgerow when they did not even know I had left the group? How did they see all of this in the pitch black as they were at least 200 yards(200m) away and I could not see more than 10 feet (3m)?

Naturalists, farmers and even poachers out at night probably explained away previous "Watchers" but no -they were not having any of it. After all "The Watcher" had been seen, what -10 times? or was it 20 times? No, someone was sure that it was more than that. Until I set the 1970s sky watches in motion the BFSB had not had a sky watch in the 1970s, 1960s and possibly for a great deal of the late 1950s. Yet, this legendary Watcher was always seen?

These are the sort of people who when you tell them that "Ancient Egyptian scripts noted quite clearly that two large glowing flying saucers had landed near to the pyramids with hundreds of observers" will immediately say "See? Historical facts how can you explain that away?" and another will add "Well, we know they built the pyramids" and end of story. Will any of them check sources? No. Why? Well "Why would he say and write that if it was not true?"

From 1948-2022 that mindset still exists and the bunko Ufologists continue to make money out of them and no matter how many times you expose the frauds...the suckers will keep buying.

Exo Planets: Water Covered Planet and Carbon Dioxide Detected

Astronomers have discovered a nearby exoplanet that may prove to be the first such world covered in water.

TOI-1452 b is an exoplanet slightly larger and more massive than Earth about 100 light years away from our planet in the Draco constellation. In a paper published Wednesday in The Astronomical Journal, researchers from the University of Montreal determine that the mass of the planet suggests it is largely made up of something less dense than rock, but denser than gas — a potential sign of a global ocean.

“TOI-1452 b is one of the best candidates for an ocean planet that we have found to date,” University of Montreal astrophysics PhD student Charles Cadieux said in a statement. “Its radius and mass suggest a much lower density than what one would expect for a planet that is basically made up of metal and rock, like Earth.”

TOI-1452 b first came to astronomers’ attention through Nasa’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite, or Tess spacecraft, which studies distant stars for telltale dips in their light that signify an exoplanet passing in front of, that is transiting, the star. Tess data suggested the existence of an exoplanet, but the observation was not definitive.

The star TOI-1452 b orbits is part of a binary star system, and Tess does not possess the power to resolve the individual stars in that system. The University’s Observatoire du Mont-Mégantic (OMM) observatory, however, along with new analytic methods, was able to confirm that TOI-1452 b exists.

“The OMM played a crucial role in confirming the nature of this signal and estimating the planet’s radius,” Mr Cadieux said. “This was no routine check. We had to make sure the signal detected by TESS was really caused by an exoplanet circling TOI-1452, the largest of the two stars in that binary system.”

An instrument installed on the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawai’i then measured the planet’s mass.

Unlike Earth, which is a mostly rocky and metallic planet with water covering around 70% of its surface, TOI-1452 b appears to be made largely, but not entirely, of water, with about 30% of its mass coming from the liquid. That’s a sort of deep global ocean more akin to the deep waters believed to lurk beneath the icy crust of Saturn’s moon Enceladus than the oceans of Earth; water makes up less than 1% of our planet’s mass.

Exoplanets are located outside of our solar system.

It’s still not certain that TOI-1452 b is an ocean world, and just what that might mean for the chances of discovering alien life in its waters, but the researchers note that the James Webb Space Telescope should soon be able to help penetrate the mystery of this strange new watery world.

NASA’s new space telescope has been providing us with awe-inspiring images of the cosmos since it went into operation this summer.

The James Webb Space Telescope has already unveiled parts of the universe that had previously never been observed, as well as showcasing stunning images of the biggest planet in our solar system, Jupiter.

But the telescope’s capabilities don’t end there.

Scientists have found the first clear evidence of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere of an exoplanet, a breakthrough discovery that could open the door to similar observations on planets more hospitable to life.

That’s a planet that is outside of our solar system - in this case, a gas giant orbiting a star similar to our Sun, some 700 lightyears away.

"As soon as the data appeared on my screen, the whopping carbon dioxide feature grabbed me," said Zafar Rustamkulov, a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University and member of the JWST Transiting Exoplanet Community Early Release Science team, which undertook this investigation.

"It was a special moment, crossing an important threshold in exoplanet sciences".

James Webb's abilities

The findings, accepted for publication in the journal Nature, show that the telescope may therefore be able to detect and measure CO2 in the atmospheres of smaller rocky planets.

The planet, WASP-39 b, is a gas giant a little larger than Jupiter. It was first discovered in 2011, from ground-based observations of dimming of light from its host star as the planet passed in front of it.

Previous studies have revealed the presence of water vapour, sodium, and potassium in the planet’s atmosphere, but only James Webb’s superior infrared sensitivity was able to confirm beyond a doubt the presence of carbon dioxide.

"Detecting such a clear signal of carbon dioxide on WASP-39 b bodes well for the detection of atmospheres on smaller, terrestrial-sized planets," said Natalie Batalha of the University of California at Santa Cruz, who leads the team.

NASA says the results show the telescope’s ability to gather insights into the composition, formation, and evolution of planets across the galaxy.

"Carbon dioxide molecules are sensitive tracers of the story of planet formation," said Mike Line of Arizona State University, another member of this research team.

"By measuring this carbon dioxide feature, we can determine how much solid versus how much gaseous material was used to form this gas giant planet. In the coming decade, JWST will make this measurement for a variety of planets, providing insight into the details of how planets form and the uniqueness of our own solar system".

Let Me Ask YOU A Question

It's a simple question: why are you visiting this page?

I ask because, since I set up this blog in 2018 to specifically focus on Close Encounters of the Third Kind/Alien Entity reports I have posted over 400 items and there have been almost 9000 views. However, only one comment.

I closed (paused) the Face Book group on this subject and no longer update the Anomalous Observational Phenomena blog nor its FB counterpart because after almost 20 years -nothing. No comments on posts, no "Have you heard of this report?" or any kind of feedback.

There are specialist books I have written and published on this subject (and others) but no one buys. These books offer never before seen photos and a lot more but not the slightest interest -even the Pentagon has copies but that's it.

I do know that there are a lot of plagiarists out there who steal original posts or information and use it as their own -no credit given to me or the blog. Those info thieves get lots of feedback.

So I am in the position where I have to decide whether this blog is worth maintaining. Writing posts and gathering the information takes time and so far all I have learnt is that I may as well just keep it locked away in my files.

If there is no feedback then this time next week there will be no blog. Less work for me and the info thieves (I include the copyright thieves who use my original illustrations without credit or permission) will have to go back to copying and pasting from dubious sites that fake a lot of information.

To start things off I am deleting posts (some of these have already been copied by others).

I gave it my best shot but if all you want is the same stale old internet crap then...You Tube awaits you.
