Fifty (50) Years!

Rather interestingly I was contacted by a Matt Dewer who has been looking at UFO researchers world wide for a book he is writing on UFO history. My first point to him was that I am not a Ufologist and do not want to be tainted by that term. I am an independent researcher looking at a number of subjects and UFO abductions is just one of them. I gave up running after lights in the sky years ago.

So I was then told that he had read that I began looking into CE3K cases in 1974 which is about right. "So you've been doing this longer than Ted Bloecher" he stated.  Now that annoyed me somewhat since, after all, Bloecher is a personal hero and very much respected for his work on CE3K cases (along with David Webb later on). Blocher started his interest in UFOs in the 1950s and wrote Report On the UFO Wave of 1947 (my copy was..."borrowed" many years ago).  He retired from UFOs in the early 1980s and Hopkins and Jacobs (sadly) took over from him. So he was active for 40 years.

I pointed that out quickly only to get the response "Yeah, but you've been doing this 48 years".

"Absolute *****!" I thought and then realised that it is 2022 and I am, unbelievably, "getting on a bit". I had a calculator nearby so checked. It is 48 years. If I live to 2024 I will have been working on CE3K/Entity cases fifty years. That is terrifying in so many respects but it has made me realise I need to sort out what happens to my files once I've popped my clogs.

It is still mind-blowing (and scary) that almost fifty years have passed since I took the Path of Counter-Actuality. "Monster hunter", "Britain's Big Cat Detective" and other embarrassing names have been given to me by the press and media and yet every time I point out that I am a naturalist and, when it comes to UFOs/CE3K I am an independent researcher and my claim to fame is that I have managed to avoid major interviews so far! 😁😁

Most of my work is summed up in my twelve books and those at least avoid sensationalism, lying or twisting facts. Where I can find no reasonable or provable explanation to a case I class it as "open" and that's it.

But...fifty years 😓 I don't look a day over 30 (when I'm not wearing spectacles)

UFO Classified | Emma Woods and Jack Brewer -Some Notes

My first thought when I saw the subject of this particular episode was "Here we go more 'he said and she said'!" but what we heard pushed home what I said about Hopkins, and particularly about Jacobs, many years ago when I realised what was going on.

With Hopkins it was Sight Unseen where it read as fiction and at that time I knew someone acquainted with the "VIP witness" (the then Sec Gen of the United Nations and he asked if he were aware that he was a witness to a UFO abduction (light heartedly)? The response once it was explained was a denial of being any such thing or actually even being in the area in question. It was a lie.

Bit-by-bit other snippets emerged and by that time Hopkins had decided to no longer communicate with me.

With Jacobs it was after I defended him in writing following an article in Fortean Times (he read my response but the publication refused to publish any counter article which is typical of not just Forteans but most little fringe cliques). Jacobs was interested in the Project Damocles the AOP Bureau wanted to instigate but something felt wrong.  When I questioned something (not that bad actually, quite minor) he no longer responded.  I later heard from an acquaintance at a MUFON conference that he had overheard Hopkins and Jacobs refer to the symbols allegedly seen during UFO abductions I had sent them and it was clear the two wanted no input but were "keeping symbols between themselves and only from their subjects and Budd was coordinating that".

I never accept hearsay, even from a trusted person so when I saw the video posted by Carol Rainey of how Hopkins "stacked the decks" and how he knew Linda Cortile was faking evidence and hoaxing but still went ahead with this fraud my heart really sank. I supported Hopkins back in the early days and even have a signed copy of Intruders with a personal message inside and, before they were stolen, I had two C90 cassettes he had sent me of his MUFON talks.  I had to sit down and ask myself how long he had been doing this? Was his much lauded investigation with Ted Bloecher of the "Stonehenge", NY, 1975 UFO incident (Flying Saucer Review Vol. 23 no. 3, October 1977) tainted? I suspect not since Bloecher has always had a solid reputation backed up by meticulous records.

The rot seems to have set in as soon as hypnosis creeped in.  I was willing to accept a "false memory" implanted -perhaps even considered something "humane" to save the percipient from the world view shattering experience they underwent.  However, as things progressed and I listened to those early tapes I did write notes regarding my concerns.

When we got to the point where percipients were regressed back to being little children to recall their abductions then to when some were abducted (?!) while still in the womb I realised that something was wrong and when hypnosis was used to regressed people back to previous lives and abductions that was it.

I looked deeper and re-read Hopkins and Jacobs books and they had points where you could see, as a body of work, where things were going wrong. In Walking Among Us Jacobs had lost the plot. I even stated so in a 2017 review -ot was now reading like bad sci fi. Pure fiction.

John Carpenter, another abduction=hypnotist specialist sold his "subjects" files to Robert Bigelow and I am not going to go into other personal scandals around him and his work,

Let it be clear that Jacobs was an historian and Hopkins an artist (producing some interesting pieces) but they were nor medically qualified nor qualified psychiatrists.  For Jacobs to tell a "subject" that she is affected by MPD -Multiple Personality Disorder- and that she has the classic symptoms and needs medication for this; as have a number of other "subjects" he has dealt with is totally and utterly wrong.  He is not qualified to diagnose any psychiatric disorder let alone tell a "subject" this while "under hypnosis".  In fact he totally and utterly abuses hypnosis. When he jokes about a sex shop he frequents and how he can get Woods a chastity belt (he's done it before he claims) that goes beyond any decent conduct. That his voice does seem to suggest he is finding this a "turn on" is worrying.

People have accused Woods of being a hoaxer and so on. I have had no contact with her and not looked into her case so I am not taking sides -and despite what was said in the video there are two sides to every story. You cannot dismiss counter accusations by stating that. In this instance I was interested in the behaviour of Jacobs who, even if Woods was faking it all, behaved in a manner that makes him predatory. And not just in the case of Woods. Jacobs' followers and those invested in the whole UFO abduction pop culture even use words such as "retarded" regarding Woods while stating that she is no such thing but a calm and collected hoaxer.

If a person completely and utterly believes that they have been abducted then they may have been -even if not in reality as that is how Ruth Syndrome works (see UFO Contact?). People keep referring to "subjects" but that is something I, personally, do not like. The bottom line is this: these people are just that -human beings-and they should be treated with dignity and respect. This should NOT be about the "next book" or getting an interesting chapter. This is NOT about making money. Gather the data and evidence, yes, do checks all the way, yes. But if the person is a genuine abductee then they have just had their entire world view shattered and that is why so many suffer mental trauma -mental shock and post traumatic stress disorder. You are gathering data "for science" (?) but above all you are trying to help the percipient come to terms with what happened to them.

"Missing time? Hey, get on the couch I'm gonna hypnotise you!" is not the approach. You need to find out more about the person and their life and then get up to the date and time of what ever happened to them. You listen. You do not push for what happened. You talk, listen and tell the person to write down any dreams they have or anything they recall that might be related to what they experienced. It is a long and dry process and you need to keep reassuring the vulnerable human being sat in front of you. There are techniques that they can use to try to recall events. Hypnosis should never be used unless the person involved is suffering trauma or the hidden event is somehow affecting their daily lives to a point where physical and mental health is affected.

The investigator should never attempt hypnosis no matter how many courses she/he has taken. Hypnosis should only be carried out by a qualified person and I would always suggest that it be one that has NOT dealt with UFOs. The investigator should not sit in on the first session unless absolutely required to by the person undergoing the therapy who would feel safer. Even in the remotest possibility of telepathy the investigator should not even be thinking of an abduction scenario. Record sessions and take the advice of the qualified person on how to proceed.

Always -always- remember that you are dealing with a human being not a piggy bank.

Sceptic or Debunker?

I am a sceptic and go by the evidence.

I am NOT a debunker who dismisses things without looking at any evidence.

I have made it very clear that I believe any alleged encounter such as a Close Encounter of the Third Kind must be investigated with an open mind taking many things into account. Since 1974 this has, sadly, been my main work so I have seen the flaws in investigation as well as in cases that point to a solution being non alien.

It is very important that these reports are investigated and if out of 100 cases 99 can be dismissed then that still leaves the 1 report. It would be good to have people involved in exobiology/xenobiology involved in looking at the entity descriptions in reports but that does not seem like something that will happen soon.

I point out proven flaws in evidence and procedure and that is it. I go into each account open minded and with absolutely no pre conceived conclusions for or against.

This book addresses and answers a rampant question within UFOlogy, whether UFOS are physical or psychic in nature. In my early days as a UFO investigator I would throw UFO reports that contained paranormal phenomena in the proverbial wastebasket. My position, etched in the halls of Congress, was that UFOS were machine-like physical craft from another star system. However, as time went by, I watched in dismay as several respected UFO researchers moved from a physical to a psychic interpretation of the UFO phenomenon. Little did I know then that my own view would also slowly but surely be honed to accommodate ever deeper levels of the psychic components triggered by the UFO experience.

Stringed to together by amazing synchronicities, I became obsessed, one after the other with UFO Abductions, Out-of-the-body experiences, Near Death Experiences, After Death Communications, Quantum Physics, and the Time Slip Phenomenon. Studies of these phenomena led me to the startling conclusion that they, and UFOS, are interconnected and all part of one encompassing metaphenomenon. I concluded that UFOS originate from the dimension NDErs describe and that we are transitory citizens of that world of Light who shuffle back and forth between a particle dimension and a wave (light) dimension through reincarnation.

The UFO abductions reflect UFO entities monitoring and caring for the human particle form in preparation for their metamorphosizing by OBES into a new body of light in the afterlife dimension. The robed human-appearing entities that greed NDErs at the world of light appear to be controlling this process and to be genetically related to humans. PLES on the other hand reflect physical humans returning and repeating this process by reincarnation as part of a natural constant inter-balanced exchange between matter and energy - between particle and wave. Inconceivable as this might be to the reader, the final analysis reached by the author is that UFOS represent a final abduction for one’s current life and that we are property!

Fowler notes how he, like others in Ufology would dismiss anyone reporting a UFO twice or multiple times as crap pots. Also dismissed were reports of people encountering entities. This is true even outside the United States. I have previously written about how, in the 1970s right up to the 1990s I would be mocked and called (never to my face) the "UFO Nut" ("UFO Naut" -they thought it was funny!). We lost a tremendous amount of data and cases because of this attitude. The Ufologists were "nuts and bolts" men who chased reports of UFOs but did not even think what or who might be piloting them -an incredible lack of logical thinking and if a reported UFO did not "fit" in with the rest then....put it in the bin.

When confronted by accounts of alien entity encounters -CE3Ks- Ufologists tended to be totally unprepared. Their mindset was not to ponder the "Who's in the UFO" but here they were being confronted by reports such as the Hills, Walton and Andreasson. Abductions. Just as there is a fear amongst many astronomers and even those working in the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence of aliens being proven to exist so there was a fear amongst Ufologists of entity cases being real -some even jumped into bed with debunkers (not literally!) and added extras that they made up or had heard to ridicule the accounts. Even in 2022 there are 25 and 35 year "UFO veterans" who ask "What are these reports of the little guys about?" (they need to read my books)/

Fowler came from that nuts and bolts group and admits it freely.  Reading this nook was almost painful.  I feel that the Andreasson Affair was a classic in Ufology. We have the classic case history of how a person becomes an 'abductee' -Karla Turner's books are really must reading for this as it shows how everything from the "trigger" to believing even the minutest incident may involve alien intervention. I believe that Turner was genuine in her claims but the evidence is that she had Ruth Syndrome (again, read my first CE3K book (UFO Contact?) for a full explanation and case samples).

With the Andreasson Affair we have another perfect case study and all that it entails from coincidences, dreams and altered states all intermixed with religious belief. In this case Fowler has documented what should be considered a classic and must reading.

The book itself (UFOs The Ultimate Abduction: We Are Property) is far more than a book about UFO abductions. It tells us about how Fowler had a UFO sighting as a child and how he eventually got into Ufology, the attitudes that prevailed, how the CIA destroyed NICAP from within (a classic case of counter intelligence infiltration and taking over an organisation/subject), the Condon Committee, USAF Project Blue Book as well as some very interesting UFO cases. On that side of things this is, again, must reading for people interested in UFO history and wanting to find out about Fowler's involvement in these matters.

The section where he turns to abductions is where people may have their minds blown.  There are cases where there is sleep paralysis as well as altered states involved and all the classic symptoms are there and yet these seem to be dismissed "because of the UFO involvement" and with that response eyes should start rolling.

Why are 'abductees' finding synchronicity in the times that they wake up? Yes, again, this is a subject mentioned and it is almost as though people tend to not research or read up on things. Your body's internal clock (yes, we all have one) is controlled by an area of the brain called the SCN (suprachiasmatic nucleus). The SCN is located in the hypothalamus. The SCN is sensitive to signals of dark and light. The optic nerve in your eyes senses the morning light. The Circadian rhythms form a basic “schedule” for our bodies that cause us to wake up at roughly the same time each day- provided that you live a relatively routine life and many things can throw this off including stress.

No aliens involved.

The striking case for me was that of the Lebels and what appeared to be a long term study of them and their property.  It made me think, to a degree, of the Coombs farm in Wales during the 1970s. Reading this was like reading an old style CE3K account and, as Fowler suggests, there may have been far more involved but once the family moved on that ended the matter. In Ufology this is a big problem; once the initial account is compiled the case is closed. There are practical problems; you want to keep a property under surveillance in some way even if just asking the new owners to report anything unusual how do you approach those new owners? "Hi. You do not know me and I can guarantee you I am not insane but I am a UFO investigator and the previous owners used to see aliens in and around the home and property---" at that point the door probably slams in your face and you go sit in your car and wait for the police responders to ask you questions.

Now I did write that this should be a classic for another reason and that is because we see how Fowler went from nuts and bolts to becoming a 'UFO abductee' himself.  Everything is circumstantial and even people he was with cannot confirm what he claims to have seen -this for many tends to add that touch of "alien interference" and tends never to be questioned. That Fowler resigned from MUFON after believing he was an abductee was the correct thing to do and the reason is simple; he was head of MUFON Director of Investigations and could be "led" by any aliens to dismiss reports and totally taint research (this MUFON eventually did themselves without the aid of aliens). So, however improbable that seems it was the right move.

Leo Sprinkle dealt with many abductees via hypnosis but then believed it possible that telepathy between the subject-hypnotist-UFO investigator might taint what the subject was telling them. For that reason he stopped but something else also caused him to retire from that line of work (what he thought could taint subjects accounts if telepathy were at work) -he believed that he, too, was an abductee.  Sprinkle felt that there were signs of his being an abductee but these seem, as in Fowler's case, to be circumstantial at best.

I'm prone to sleep paralysis, I sleep irregularly and wake at specific times when I do sleep -am I a UFO abductee? No. I have seen up to five light phenomenon in my adult life -I can account for every second: no missing time.  My parents observed a UFO in Germany just before I was born -am I an abductee and were they? No. It goes on and on and it is the trick the mind plays because it takes common events and things and then plays a game of dot-to-dot so that the picture you make is not of a bunny rabbit sitting in profile but of a 'Zeta Reticulan" beckoning you with a long finger.

A few incidents Fowler mentions from his later years had me cringing and concerned but none had anything to do with UFOs.  We also see how Fowler has led himself to intermix UFOs, abductions and "synchronicities" with Near Death Experiences and Out of Body Experiences and the conclusions are completely illogical. Out of Body abductions and then the hypnotic regressing adults (who have accumulated decades of TGVF and media accounts of UFOs) to something they believe they remember from when they were a 2 year old...a three year old and even before. That is a mockery on so many levels and showing total misuse of hypnosis.

Is it any wonder that Fowler then takes the stance of the discredit Jacobs and claims "We are property" and that aliens control our minds and spirits to the point of not just physical abductions but out of body abductions?  Fowler notes Andreasson's Christian belief but also his own "fundamental Christian" belief that caused him to argue with his father when he recounted odd events and called them of "Satanic origin".  I have seen this so many times since 1974; rational people who cannot explain aspects of UFO reports as nuts and bolts jumping to the conclusion that "UFOs are paranormal" and some go as far as to call on the fictitious Satan as the source of it all.

This was a fascinating read but probably not for the reasons I had thought when I purchased the book. The same facets of UFOs that make some -some- astronomers and scientists ridicule the subject can also make some Ufologists 'abductees'.

Review: The Utah UFO Display

  • Publisher ‏ : ‎ Cedar Fort, Inc.; Illustrated edition (July 8, 2010)

Do UFOs really exist? Shedding new light on the UFO mystery, noted biologist Frank B. Salisbury, in collaboration with Joseph Junior Hicks, brings to life dramatic eyewitness accounts that address this timeworn puzzle.

Written in the context of modern science, Utah UFO Display includes countless interviews of people who adamantly insist they witnessed a flying saucer or were abducted by extraterrestrial beings.

Prepare to be hooked from the first page!

Well, I have to admit that for the most part this was a good read but Salisbury admits himself that he had retired and been out of the UFO field some time -hence his being dropped as consultant by Bigelow and the Skinwalker ranch group. In fact, Hicks, whose work the Skinwalker team used a lot as background and credited got the big heave-o and that rings weird.  It's akin to a businessman stating he is in heavy financial trouble and he knows a friendly accountant but screw him -"I'll go it alone!"  Most of the leg work and investigation work was carried out by Joseph Junior Hicks.

The problem I find is that in the years since this book first appeared Ufology has moved on (slightly) but in the table of cases we see "saw a silvery figure in house" and that's it. Even a UFO sighting recounted early in the book does not mention the fact that a entity was reported...well, it is a kind of side note at the end of the section.  Everything else is pretty much "UFO standard" and it does not appear to have entered Salisbury's mind that the phenomena reported in many cases may be a natural phenomenon. This is where old Ufologists tend to make the mistakes as they conclude that every "unexplainable" is intelligently controlled or nuts and bolts.

Where we get to something new and very relevant to UFOs in 2022 is the chapter on Skinwalker Ranch itself. The family that owned it from the 1930s (not 1950s as the current myth goes) had never encountered strange phenomena of any kind and certainly not UFOs and the brother of the late owner (Garth Meyers spoke to Salisbury) had even worked on the ranch as a young man and encountered nothing unusual. Everything changed after the family of the deceased couple who owned the ranch sold it (they were all quite old so running a ranch was beyond them). Salisbury seems to suggest that the new owners accounts may have some truth in them but to my reading it read as if there was a huge pile of bovine excrement and now some denial from that source ('Tom Gorman').

Where things get bad is  when George Knapp and Colm Kelleher got involved. Allegedly, Knapp had never spoken to 'Tom Gorman' but heavily embellished accounts and 'Gorman' did not even know about the book until after its publication. As I wrote at the time after reading Knapp and Kelleher's book; I do not believe a word of it. No photographs, absolutely no evidence what-so- ever (as Knapp has been recorded as stating when pushed on the subject.

It comes down to this; someone was taking the money and making the most out of false accounts and reports -even from the "crew" who were supposed to be investigating the ranch. That Bigelow actually called Meyer a liar when he stated that there was NEVER any strange phenomena at the ranch from 1930-1990s and its sale but later sold the ranch on to another "entrepreneur" says a lot. I think Bigelow caught on to the con at some point. The "must not dig in certain areas before consulting the seller" is nothing spooky but is something put into land contracts in the area due to oil deposits!

This is an interesting read for those who do read these days and do not rely on the lies found on the internet and You Tube. This book does note that some observed odd lights near the ranch but this sounds like natural phenomenon.

Conclusions about UFOs all fall into the same "I'm a nuts and bolts man and this does not seem to fit" category. The same "false gods of Ufology" are quoted (seemingly people are unaware of how their data is inaccurate or corrupted) and the same old theories pop up including how religion can help (Salisbury is a Mormon).

An interesting read as I note and the greate4st contribution to modern Ufology (again) is to the Skinwalker Ranch farce.

Important Announcement

I was up until around 0400 hrs and made a decision.

When you have poured decades into work that goes into a book (we are talking the "World Mystery" and UFO books) and you try to keep that book at a low price to encourage buyers that is a publisher decision and I made it.

When a £20.00 book brings in 75p that is far from good. Put it this way; if people went buy crazy and purchased 100 copies of a book I would not even get £100 -only £75 (if you are American just think of £ as $).

As it happens the sales have been so bad because no one recommends them and there is no word-of-mouth to let people know about them.

My posts on the books have been seen, as of today, by just under 1 million people. No sales.

So I have decided that this cannot go on.

I am going to withdraw the books from the online store and see whether I can get a publisher or agent and if I cant well people haver had between 12-5 years to purchase the books so no one is going to miss them. You will NOT find them on Amazon nor on Ebay because those sellers have to buy them from me and generally add up to £10/$10 to the cost and that is why I blocked that (also selling on Amazon would earn me less than 75p a copy).

The books will be gone and I am not that worried because they are doing nothing anyway. People are more illiterate these days and do not read and, in fact, when they do they prefer fantasy substituted for fact.

Big weight off my shoulders and the albatross will be gone.

"What Happened to the Posts?"

Exactly what I said would happen months ago. Someone was not reading the posts properly, were they?

I post a feature such as a report or long general article and I leave it up for 48 hours, sometimes I leave it a little longer. When, after that time, I see only 10 or 12 people have checked it and there is no response or comment it gets reverted back to a draft. Reverting it back to a draft means that those info thieves online can stop stealing and using my original research work.

As I have noted before -in 2021, 2020 and 2019- I am not indulging info thieves. Some of the posts may well form chapters in later books and though the books might not sell they provide proof of who did all the work that was stolen online.

Imagine you work all week and then when its time for that pay cheque you are told "Charlie says he did the work so we are paying him."  All the hours you worked and the effort you put in and Charlie gets the credit (even though you have no idea who Charlie is) and the money and praise.  Unfair? Yep, but its an example of how internet thievery works. A couple weeks back I posted a long report and added in photos and maps -many months of research. By the next day that work was chopped up and used by three others who also added fake info that will now go as 'fact'. Lots of congrats on all the work and effort.

You see what I mean?

So I delete posts after a certain time.

Emma Funk UFO incident

I miss the old days up until the 1990s and the internet when Ufologist actually cooperated.

I know.

Unbelievable, right?

After a good long time absolutely no one out there has any links (not that same short video clip) to the Emma Funk UFO incident???

It's The Question Most of Us Ask....

The flying saucer and big lumbering hairy monster is something that those of us into Monster and sci fi movies (especially B movies) are familiar with.

During the 1960s "jokester" John A. Keel reported on such accounts. The big promoters through mass media paperbacks were Brad Steiger and Joan Whritenour. "The sandman" and many other fancy names were given to these lumbering creatures that were seen in conjunction with a UFO sighting or entering and leaving a flying saucer.  Steiger (Alien Meetings) even reported on a crashed UFO and hairy humanoid ("sasquatch-like") running from it in Turkey of all placers. despite almost thirty years of searching I can find no original report. In fact, a few of Steiger's accounts start and end with him.

Just as Charles Fort mis-reported on incidents and gave sources in which his accounts never actually appeared and some of his reporting can be seen as "big fibs" so Keel and Steger -and others- produced reports that may have had a few grains of truth in them but, as I have repeatedly written over the years, the accounts were "sexed up" -making them sensationalist and something to hook the readers.

Let's not forget that the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organisation (BFRO) also had accounts faked for Matt Moneymaker's own reasons. You deal with Bigfoot and UFOs then anything can be passed around as fact. Even sea serpents and UFOs.

Above: Joan Amos c 1998 (c)2022 Hooper Archive

My late friend Joan Amos was a nice lady but had some strange theories. All the missing domestic cats we hear about were in fact taken by aliens and mutated into the large black cats reported in the media -she even had a report from someone claiming to have seen a panther-like cat leaving a UFO.  Joan also had interests in subjects ranging from whether the original people of Cornwall were Egyptians (long and complicated subject), the paranormal and much more. I never believed half of what we discussed and Joan knew that so she did the best she could to gather material to send me to see what I thought. She knew I was sceptical and open minded.

The point here is that you never dismiss any claims but examine all the information that comes to you and then check and counter-check until you decide for yourself. I could write that I believe Travis Walton or Betty and Barney Hill after all the checking but is that proof? No. I would be going by anecdotal evidence because I was not there and no one else was present but the percipients.

As for Bigfoot (the plural is "Bigfoot" as in "The reports of Bigfoot" NOT "Bigfeet" which makes it sound like ill educated gibberish that debunkers can laugh at) well, there is no such thing in the UK and there never has been and I have studied rare books as well as popular ones over the decades and even talked to and known people in areas where these accounts come from and they have never heard of such things. This began after the U. S. Bigfoot programmes hit the internet. Same with "dog Man" -popular culture taking over from reality when the right, susceptible people are involved.  On a trip to Cradle Hill, near Warminster in the late 1970s, Franklyn Davin-Wilson and I were hardly out of the car two minutes when people got glowing faces and hyper and asked "Can you sense it? The whole atmosphere is different here!"  When a satellite flew over and someone excitedly yelled "Look -it's them!" I pointed out that it was a satellite and, boy, was the response negative but they were susceptible minds.

The funny thing is that I always look into something with an open mind and when I kept reading UK Bigfooters stating that "no one in science" would look at the evidence I contacted them and told them I was a naturalist and interested in looking at what evidence there was. The lady running the group really tore into me as a debunker and made a lot of other negative statements yet I had never met her or been in contact with her before. I messaged her privately and she apologized but not openly on the group therefore anyone who might have come forward was put off as I was a debunker outed by their leader.

Next was a fella who had collected Bigfoot evidence in an area he was keeping secret -despite his use of a pseudonym to keep things secret it took me 30 minutes to find out who he was and where he was. I asked politely what the physical evidence was t6hat he had collected and he told me and he even had a video posted of it: a stick found in the middle of woodland where coppicing had taken place. It was a "Bigfoot knocking stick". He went into a full argument with me after I pointed out that it was just a stick and there was nothing  to prove someone had not thrown it for a dog or, simply, it had just fallen there. No. The length was right and there was no way a stick like that could be found in woodland. So I asked what other evidence he had? He came back with another speech about the stick. The fella was obviously not that bright so I decided to not respond. A stick in the woods is a stick in the woods. I later found out he took my lack of response as the arch debunker (me) having no answer to his stick evidence and he even called it a great victory.

We see the same with "British big cat" reports. We know that there is only one such cat in the UK but we have photos wild boar, possibly (? too far away) a horse in a field about a half mile from the photographer, video footage of a great dane and various other dogs not to mention enough footage of domestic cats to keep any cat lover busy for a day. You can highlight the diagnostic features or clean a photo up to show what animal was seen -nope. You are a debunker

Paranormal entertainment videos -100% of which are fake anyway- you have people in the dark in a decaying, crumbling old building or tunnel and something falls and it is "thrown" or to put it in the vernacular "How on earth did that get thrown?" It wasn't thrown. It was a piece of a crumbling building falling.  Floor boards in a house constructed mainly of wood and ever creak or thud is sign of "something" being present. No one wants to hear anything other than that (for the record I have seen poltergeist and "ghostly" figures within 5 feet of me so I am no debunker).

In Flying Saucer Review, Volume 20, No. 1, July, 1974 is an article by Berthold E. Schwarz, MD, Berserk: A UFO Creature Encounter. UFO and Bigfoot sighted and a lot of other factors -much not revealed until years later by investigator Stan Gordon. The later material shows that the case is explainable and if you want to find out more about "Ruth Syndrome" check out my book UFO Contact? which explains it in full. In fact, there is an incident involving the main percipient, Stephen Pulaski, that could not have happened but is woven into the story. I very politely explained to Stan Gordon the possible explanation and I was being careful as this was his main case. Never heard back from him again.

Here is the problem. I have spent 30+ years investigating and researching until finding out that the case was inaccurately reported or simply fake. Indeed, one case I started on in 1977 and did not close the file on until 2010. I file it away and move on. To get to the , as far as we can prove, genuine reports we have to look at the fake or misreported; Solved move on. Do I then curse the heavens over the  amount of work I've put into the case for it to have been wasted time? No. that is investigation and research.

Flying Saucer Review has, since it began, promulgated cases and reports that it knew were proven to be hoaxes and under Desmond Leslie the, uh, odd "jolly" was mixed into the pot; the Braemar, Scotland giant humanoid report being one of these. Never happened yet still quoted today and even little bits added to the account.

If someone tells me that they saw a UFO and that they were abducted I do not ridicule or dismiss. I listen. I get all the details. No, I do not say "You need to be put under regression hypnosis!" The person does not describe an entity such as a Grey, Insectoid or whatever but a very unusual one.  Here I will check back through my volumes of reports from around the world to see if similar entities have been reported -I did this and found entity types in little known cases that matched up. Most of the accounts are stored in my head so I'll try to recall anything similar first.  If you find five reports separated by decades and continents and so obscure that very few know about them let alone the sources...you have something.

There are reports classified, simply because they involved UFOs and entities, as hoaxes. You look into those and suddenly you find that percipients were smeared and all sorts of rumours started and in the 1950s a quiet whisper of "You know, we think he is a fag" starts the ball rolling. Even a married man or, say, a scout master: hey "a fag working with kids, know what I mean?" It's all documented. In this day and age corruption and racism and other questionable practices are accepted by big UFO groups ( we know which ones).

Back in the 1980s a very well known American Ufologist contacted me -I still have the letter- and told me outright that he was trying to track down dirt on another Ufologist who was rumoured to "have had a sex change" (ie Trans). The information was wanted to smear the person and I made quite sure that the "truth seeker" got a good, very blunt response. Even in the early 1980s when I was gather material on Betty and Barney Hill Ufologists in the UK (as in the U.S.) were responding with "Well, they are a mixed race couple" and "Well, she married a black man" and I grew up in an area where that was not unknown so my responses were a tad blunt -I suddenly see why I was not that popular😂

Checking on a percipient's background is a basic and sexual orientation or ethnicity is never considered. So if you find that the percipient is above board you also check to see if there were UFO reports in the area at the time he had his alleged encounter.  When it comes down to it if you are dealing with one percipient your conclusion is based on his/her testimony and you never close a case but always keep an eye out for future similar accounts.

Even if someone says that the entities encountered on a craft were similar in appearance to a cucumber with four legs and two arms you go through the same checks. Never Ever do you dismiss a report because "it involved a group of kids who saw UFOs" because that does not mean it is not a genuine account. Were locals asked about UFO activity in the area at the time? No? Then you cannot dismiss the report. And when you state that you destroyed the written account sent to you -you should be shunned by serious researchers.

I was once working and could not get to see a witness who reported a UFO landing near Bristol/ I handed the letter from the man to another Ufologist who was sent to chat to the witness. Next day I was told that the witness was "a UFO nutter" -he had described a UFO landing and "something" getting out and walking around it.  He was a "nutter" because he reported an entity that the investigator had not even asked for a description of. I was then told the witness letter had "gone on the fire as rubbish" -at which point I was very "vocal" toward the 'investigator'.

In another instance I was dealing with a married woman who had reported UFO activity and having seen entities at least twice. The conversations were not quick Q&As but took time. We were not using hypnosis at the time and so it was careful conversations, listening and noting things. These discussions were taking place at her home with her husband present and at my home -with my grand parents present because that way there was no way improper behaviour could be claimed (the 1970s were a different time). One day the woman did not turn up for a meeting. I had been away on holiday (which turned into UFO investigation) and it seems that things were said to the woman and she ended all contact. At a meeting one Ufologist suggested that my main interest was in sex with the woman. The vocal explosion that followed deafened the person involved and shut up anyone else.

It is something that you need to be aware of and as an investigator/researcher your behaviour toward percipients/witnesses has to be impeccable. CE3K/entity reports were never liked in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s or at any time though, of course, the scan man George Adamski was above questioning -as were many contactees! And it should be noted that a Contactee is not and abductee or encounter percipient.

I use the term Close Encounter of the Third Kind and that is it. No CE4K, 5 kind,  6 kind or any other number. Far more confusion and fantasy has developed over the decades by "New Ufologists" (hoaxers and debunkers) increasing the number of encounter types. CE3K is the only tag you really need and all the data should be included in that type of case report.

One of my ex colleagues, who left the CE3K project fairly quickly as he was unnerved by it all, once told me that he had been to interview a person about a UFO contact. He had not told me or anyone else before and went by himself to a house in a rather run down area and was led into a darkened room. There the (apparently very creepy) person described how aliens were hidden in society but we could only see them for what they were if we got to within a certain distance of them. These aliens were silicon based life forms and it seems my colleague was scrutinised closely to make sure he was "not one of them". Apparently he breathed a sigh of relief when he got back to his car.

The rule should always be, even if the person is known to the investigator, that no one goes to such an interview alone. If the person is known to the investigator there could be later claims of collusion or having fallen for a story. Back-up is needed. In some cases (as I found) a person may sound genuine but meeting them alone and face to face can be dangerous.

"The object changed size and shape" I would never ignore as there are accounts going back to the 1800s of this type of phenomenon and they are not any form, of craft. "The object changed size and shape and then became a person" I would not ignore as that indicates something non-Ufological.

The two above examples can be checked using the literature and even looking at human psychology. You have to be aware of many interpretations and it has taken me since 1974 to get where I am today (I'm not talking about being poor either). Therefore if someone tells me they saw Bigfoot leave a landed UFO and walk into woodland I know what I need to look for.

Will genuine aliens look like "Greys"? Well, before the whole of Ufology rebooted itself and made a huge proportion of old reports into ones involving "Greys" we had short, large headed entity reports but no Greys. The late Anne Druffel even wrote that there were never any Greys in old reports. Will the aliens look like "insectoids"? There are none reported prior to the 1990s. Same with the Reptilians. The "Tall Whites". Am I going to dismiss someone who claims to have encountered such entities? No. I will ask for the evidence or at least convincing testimony.

It is probable that there may have been old style landings and CE3Ks but those involved will not come forward (through fear of ridicule; remember the Hills did not go to Ufologistds and the women in the Liberty encounter did not approach Ufologists but Ufologists went to them and threatened to expose them to the press if they did not cooperate)  and those who have are either dismissed if they claim there was no abduction and no Greys or ignored as "cranks". In over 70 years nothing has changed and there are still Ufologists who believe Adamski.

The percipient/witness is the important factor in these cases and they need to be as protected from publicity and ridicule as much as is possible and, as I noted 15 years or so ago (Ufology is now catching up) we are dealing with post traumatic stress disorder in some cases. In the 1980s I describe it in the then terms of "shell shock" and "mental shock".

What should you expect as a Ufologist or investigator-researcher? Nothing. You have to keep an open mind and gather all the data you can and remember that Hopkins, Jacobs and perhaps even Mack, led us along a false path where decades were wasted, percipients abused and where debunkers found all they needed to ridicule the UFO cult.

Expect nothing.

I have the following notes and images on this incident and they were sent to me by someone many years ago but with no source.  If anyone can...
